For the first time ever the global use of fossil fuels to produce electricity is being replaced by planet-friendly solar and wind.
A new study by energy analysts Ember, describes the energy shift as a “turning point” resulting in fewer warming gases being released during production.
In 2022, 40% of the UK’s electricity was generated by solar, wind, biomass and hydropower, and this figure is set to steadily grow year on year.
HeatElectric, the UK’s newest electric heating franchise, is leading the way towards climate change by offering the best of both, fully integrated solar and electric heating options.
Unlike many companies who sell either heating or domestic hot water systems or solar separately, Heat Electric offer fully inclusive packages which are currently zero VAT rated, part of a Government initative.
Their unique proposition is fully integrated ELKATHERM® A++ energy rated electric heating, SUNAMP heat batteries for hot water powered by Qcells solar PV and battery energy storage.
More good news for cost-conscious consumers is the option to link to a tariff like Octopus FUSE, allowing them to buy energy cheaply at night then sell back unused electricity to the grid if they have ‘over produced’ during the day.
An easy-to-use HeatElectric app allows home owners to keep track of their energy consumption, they can see exactly what is being produced in real time on any smart device. The app even keeps a close watch on the weather and can predict what energy is needed to top up a home battery.
David Lukeman, managing director HeatElectric: “Electric heating has never looked so good and has never been so reasonable to run using this approach. We are very proud of our unique offering which gives the customer a complete home energy solution.
“Octopus works well with our system and has a new tariff specifically for solar installations with a battery. The thinking behind it is you consume as little as possible at the peak rate and as much as possible at the low rate by charging your battery and timing your appliances. Such tariffs are game changers.”
By replacing outdated and wasteful water-filled central heating systems with a modern energy saving system powered by the sun, consumers can make a big impact on their domestic energy bills.
According to the Ember report the growth in solar and wind power generation will be greater than the demand in 2023, which will start to turn the tide on global warming gases.
"We now have reached this next turning point of starting to see a new era of falling fossil fuel power sector emissions. We know that wind and solar are the answer and we've just got to get on with a roadmap for building them as quickly as possible," said Dave Jones, from Ember, one of the report's authors.
